New Mediator Workshop

Friday Oct 28th

Community Solutions (CS) will host a new mediator workshop for those who have volunteered with our organization. Attendees should be those mediators who completed our Basic Mediation Training (BMT) course this past March, 2016. This is our organization's effort to reconnect at the 6-month mark, post BMT. The workshop is scheduled for two hours and will be presented by the CS staff. Workshop content will include a review of select technical aspects of mediation such as case development techniques, co-mediation practices, mediation-related forms and procedures, and program-specific mediation standards. An organizational review will also be included on matters related to mediation programs, pilot and developmental efforts, policy initiatives, contracts for services, and volunteer terms of service. For more information, contact the CS Case Manager at (541) 383-0187, or via email.

OMA Annual Conference

Friday Nov 4th

The Executive Director, Case Manager, and Volunteer Program Assistant will be attending this year's Oregon Mediation Association (OMA) annual conference in Portland, Oregon on November 4th-5th. This is a great opportunity to network with other dispute resolution practitioners, hear the latest best practices in our field, and attend a wide variety of seminars presented by guest speakers from around our state and the nation. This year we're bringing Kathy Moller with us; she's volunteered her time and talent to assist in the development of our Restorative Justice (RJ) program. Kathy will be attending two unique RJ forums that provide an overview of programs in K-12 schools, as well as those linked directly to mediation. We'll be providing our volunteers and update following the conference so stay tuned for more information.
